Stress is one of the main causes of so many illnesses and mental issues. Stress can come from anywhere. Just sitting in traffic to get to work can cause you to have stress. People pay millions of dollars a year on products and therapy to help reduce their stress level. Even things like being over weight can be attributed to stress. Dangers of Stress
Stress is one of the main causes of such things as heart disease. Although this is more of a long term thing, when you look at the things stress can have on you in your everyday life, you will see just how important it is to handle this issue if it's something that is a part of your life. One of the biggest thing everyone works so hard for is to be happy. This can be difficult when it seems that everything in our daily life can cause us to feel stressful and even agitated.
When you worry too much about certain things, this can cause your mind to be restless. This restlessness can lead to lack of quality sleep and being short tempered. How many times have you or someone you know snapped at someone for something so insignificant or something that wasn't even their fault? How many times have you gone home from a long day's work and see the house slightly messy and got all worked up about it? These are one of the results of having way too much stress.
Having a job you hate is one of the major factors of this. When you hate the work that you do, the exposure you have to things that will heighten your stress level can be enormous. Lack so sleep, agitation, high blood pressure... over the long run, these things will start to break you down both mentally and physically. On the extreme, people have committed suicide because they were unable to handle stress. So what can you do to help reduce your stress levels?
Reducing Stress
Although it may seem silly, but stress balls can help with this. Of course, they aren't the only solution. So how do they work and why? What do people normally want to do when they feel really stressed out? They will either want to let it out by yelling or doing something physical or try to avoid things in general and perhaps even break down and cry. These stress balls are made of a rubbery foam that you can squeeze in the palm of your hand as hard as you want. The reason for doing this is to transfer the stress into the ball. When you do something physical in a somewhat violent way, you are in essence, releasing the stress.
This is why so many people get angry and snap at people over the smallest things when they are in this state. It's a way to help them release the stress that has been built up. Of course, by doing this, it may tarnish relationships and cause even more stress. There are doctors that recommend people to punch pillows in order to release the stress that is in their bodies. This can work but it may also lead to some other side effects if you're not careful.
Chinese Stress Balls
Chinese stress balls like the one in the picture above can help put your mind to ease by helping your focus on something else. This leads to the next thing you can do to reduce stress: Meditation.
When you meditate, what you are doing is consciously focusing your mind on something that will help you relax your mind. Much of stress is really mental. If you can master focusing your mind on something else, you can reduce stress pretty quickly. What you can do is to sit or lie down and close your eyes. Once you do that, you want to slowly focus on breathing deeply while counting in your head from 1 to 50. The goal is to get up to 50 without thinking about anything else but the number you are focusing on. If your mind happens to wander, you have to start over from one. The more you do this, the better you will get at it.

You can get stress balls for 99 cents. Certain ones are better than others of course. Some have different beads in them while others are just rubber foam. You can get them in different shapes and colors as well. The best ones seem to be ones that are a bit bigger and are harder to squeeze them all the way. This will help you transfer more stress over to the ball opposed to the cheap ones that you can squeeze fully without any effort.
Whether you use these balls to help reduce your stress level, meditation, or hitting a pillow, the more you use it, the easier it tends to be. Keeping your stress level under control will lead to more happiness and joy. One of the best things you can do is to find a line of work that you are passionate about since, as mentioned above, job dissatisfaction is one of the leading causes of stress.

ya i thought this hub was helpful too, ive had a lot of stress and anxiety problems lately , and was wondering how i should start meditating
I use stress balls every day it stops me biting my nails or playing with my hair. A nervous habit i guess or it could be that I am thinking about something and am completely unaware of my actions. i find stress ballss far more satisfying as well.
